July NWCMM - Cynophobia Part Deux

I attended the July NWCMM - Cynophobia Part Deux this evening. A really nice evening for a walk which made this all the more pleasant.

July NWCMM - Cynophobia Part Deux - GC2WF7Y
We all met in a pub car park and everyone was reasonably suited an booted to start the walk lead by "The Magna Defender". There was a sort of consensus that as a large group it was easier to sign the logs as a team rather than everyone in the group signing them and taking a long time.

The photos are on the flickr site (see link on blog page)

Hypsidendrophobia - GC301T3
This was the first cache we came to which was a massive group FTF for "Team Tunnel", Pity we cant all have the FTF though on the Geocaching pages.

The Hunt for Pongi - GC17AWF
A nicely hidden cache under a foot bridge and another find for "Team Tunnel"

Cynophobia - The Cache - GC2CD1R
The main event and the reason for the walk was to get this cache. We stopped at the top of the tunnel entrance for a group photo and to get torches out. Slowly the group descended the bank and stepped into the mouth of the tunnel. The ground underneath was very muddy and slimy so you had to move slowly and deliberately through the water and mud so you didn't end up looing a boot or falling over.

We made the middle of the tunnel and found the cache. The cache was again signed "Team Tunnel" and carefully replaced.

Slowly the group mad its way through the tunnel and it took a while for everyone to get through.

The exit to the tunnel was shallower on the brickwork, but once out we were into a stream and it was a bit deeper than it looked. Some members of the team suffered from water logging, but all was taken in good spirits.

the way back was better through a drier tunnel, whilst some of the group did decide to walk back through the wet tunnel as scale the bank at the other end.

Everyone walked back to the cars and some on to a pub for beer/drinks and food.

A great first event for myself.
